Fit Check: Trying on your new clogs
Thank you for ordering a pair of BRYR clogs. Whether this is your first pair or your fifth, here is how to tell whether you got the right size.
Try them on indoors first. We can only accept returns and exchanges on clogs with no signs of wear, so walk around at home for a couple of hours and stick to carpet where you can.
Your heel
Your foot should sit anywhere from touching the back of the clog to about 1/2" from the back edge. It should never hang over. Most people have one foot slightly longer than the other, so size to the longer one.
Your instep
Your foot should slide all the way in. If it won't, size up or choose a more adjustable style. With clogs, the volume around your instep usually matters more than width.
Your toes
They shouldn't be pressed against the front. If they are, your instep isn't holding your foot back. Try a more adjustable style, or size down. In the Loaf and the Lila, an insert in the ball of the foot can fill the space.
Why clogs feel different
A rigid sole doesn't bend the way a soft-soled shoe does. Instead, the shape of the sole is engineered to roll with your step. That takes a little getting used to, and it's doing real work: rigid soles reduce fatigue and the wear and tear on your joints. Wear them around the house for a few days and see how your feet feel at the end of the day. It's not magic, it's science.
How the Loaf is meant to fit
We designed the Loaf as a more relaxed fit, so you can wear it with socks or barefoot. Room around your instep is normal. You can have up to a finger's width at the instep and 1/2" at the back and still walk comfortably. More than that, and you'll want to size down.
If it's fitting snugly and you want to wear thick socks with it, size up instead. You'll get more out of the pair.
Will the leather stretch?
Our leather molds to your feet without bagging out, which is why we choose it. Nubuck starts out softer and shapes to your foot quickly. Our Italian suede is soft on the outside with a veg-tan lining for strength.
Full grain leathers, like Moto Black, Whiskey, Oxblood and Coffee, start stiffer. Give them a week of wear and they'll start to take the shape of your feet. A couple of days around the house is the easiest way to break them in.
Why your BRYR size isn't the same in every style
Our lengths are consistent across every style, but volume and adjustability aren't. You might wear an 8 in the Miranda and a 9 in the Tegan. That's the style, not the sizing.
Should you spray nubuck or suede?
Our leathers hold up to a lot of wear as they are. If you live somewhere wet, a little extra protection doesn't hurt. Care kits are here.
