Where you live : Indiana, USA

What do you do: I’m a stay at home mother to five children.

It’s hard not to feel timid or *less than* when most women have careers in this country, but a friend of mine once told me I shouldn’t feel that way because raising children while keeping up with million things around the house is a hard job and that alone should be considered a career, and I try to keep that in mind. I occasionally do some translating work on the side, and I used to volunteer at the elementary school my daughter attends (and where my other four went as well) before the pandemic.

Tell me a little about your style journey? :

I’ve always loved fashion since I was very little. I remember looking at fashion related books and magazines and drawing pictures of girls in clothes I’d want to wear when I was supposed to be reading chapter books at school. If I wasn’t drawing, I would hop on trains and search for specific fashion items for hours, window shopping or fashionable-people-watching in cities. I realize that I still do the same thing today, with internet and Instagram…

How would you describe your style? 

I honestly don’t know how to describe my style. I just wear what I like. I like to pair unexpected colors and play with patterns to make some interesting looks (someone introduced me to the term “clown core”) but I do that mostly for Instagram and what I actually wear is more like “norm core” outfits for the most part.

What are your favorite bryr clogs styles? 

My favorite Bryr clogs style is Zoe monochrome. It has a brogue look and also it has the ease of clogs which you can just slip on and go. It has the cool platform to make me taller (I’m 5’1) and I am a huge fan of good monochrome. They’re just perfect. 

What's the last project you did and what did you like about it? 

We recently had to repaint our spacious living room walls after repairing all the cracks (it’s an old house!). After brainstorming all the color possibilities with my husband, we settled with plain white because we had two large shelves that are white and thought it can’t go wrong with monochrome look, and we really like it so far.

What piece of advice would you give the 20 year old you? :

Talk to more people, ask questions and think about options. Study some kind of art or even something to do with fashion. After all that’s where your passion is.
