Our SF shop is re-opening soon, and we are looking for a special someone to help build and lead our in-person retail experience at our San Francisco headquarters!

The Retail Manager is a person who loves making people feel welcome and inspired. This person is a design-nerd who loves style, fashion and design, who has a great eye and is excited to help us create a beautiful and inspiring space for our community. As the Retail manager, you will be part of our small but powerful leadership team which includes Isobel (the founder of bryr), our production manager and our CS and facilities manager. As the leader of the retail team, your goal will be to lead the retail team to productively, efficiently and effectively meet your team's goals and to collaborate with your co-leaders to meet our company goals. You will achieve this by leading the retail team projects, manage retail operations, and give support and guidance to your team members to inspire and encourage impactful results. You will give strategy input to the company owner on company direction and lead projects.  

Areas of reponsiblity:


  • Contribute at a high level to the overall business culture and growth using our Culture Guide as a tool for self-reflection and an ongoing commitment to self-growth, the growth in others, and the growth of the company.
  • Contribute at a high level to the overall culture and business growth by participating in or leading improvement committees and projects when needed.

Leadership & Planning:

  • Give input to business owner on company strategy in the following areas:  Sales, Merchandising, Store layout, events, Community loyalty, Company’s holistic culture, the retail team’s culture strategy (Hiring/training/supervision/feedback/Holistic)
  • Execute high quality planning, time management and productively, both personally and  for the retail team to help the company achieve our goals.

    Sales and In-person experience

    • Give input to our annual sales goals and create strategy to meet our quarterly and monthly goals. 
    • Lead team to meet our sales goals.
    • Lead all in-person experience at the Bryr headquarters shop, ensuring that our customers experience a welcoming, inspiring and helpful environment at Bryr.
    • Work on the floor, including weekends and holidays, assisting customers with purchases.

      Merchandising, Visual Display and Programs

      • Create compelling and effective merchandising and display for the shop, including Bryr merchandize and other brands.
      • Work with the company owner on shop buys for other brands
      • Place re-orders on products and follow up with vendors


      • Lead planning and execution of our annual in-person sample sale and other events.
      • Give input to our events calendar and execute  to create more customer loyalty and engagement.

      The team

      • Supportively and productively execute all aspects of managing the culture of the retail team, including hiring, training (technical and attitudinal), supervision, mentorship & feedback and holistic team culture to support a highly productive team and meet our company goals. 
      • Manage the team’s work schedule, including approving time off, overtime, etc. to ensure we have the people resources to meet our goals.
      • Strategy, hire, train and on-board part time help as needed.
      • Admin of the retail team’s hours in gusto, including approving hours, expenses, PTO/sick hours and company holidays and bubbling up any issues to the supervisor as they arise.
      • In the event of an injury, work with the employee and supervisor, follow our protocols and resolve the situation effectively. 

      Order management

      • As needed Coordinate with Customer experience manager and production team on any specific customer questions or special orders.

      Facilities, equipment and space

      • Ensure that the retail facilities are clean, organized and productive to use, including end of day cleaning and as-needed cleaning.
      • Ensure that our POS system is in good working order.
      • Ensure that our in-stock merchandise is organized, accounted for and easy to use. 
      • Innovate our techniques, equipment and tools, to save the company money and resources, without sacrificing quality or safety.

      Preferred Experience

      • 1-2 years of experience leading teams and/or supervising others
      • Worked with the public in some capacity 

      Physical Demands: This position is a includes working on the shop floor and require the following physical demands:

      • Walking and standing (about 5-6 hours per day)
      • Ability to see detail
      • Lifting up to 25 lbs

       Classification & Hours

      • Full time & Salaried 
      • Wednesday-Sunday 11-7pm (These times/days may vary depending on shop opening, but this job will require working weekends and holidays)

      Job location:

      • The position is located at our headquarters in the Dogpatch Area of San Francisco, and is in-person.

      Compensation & Benefits

      We offer a benefits package to all our full time employees which commences after a 60 day probation period that includes the following. We will share more in-depth information regarding the benefits package during the interview process: 

      • We will share salary and growth info during the interview process, including a transparent path to growth within the company, including pay grid range information
      • Employee 401K profit sharing; company matches 100% of employee contributions up to the first 3% of pay and then 50% of employee contributions on the next 2% of pay
      • Health, Dental and Vision benefits; company covers 60% of the premium and 40% of dependent coverage
      • Life insurance and vision benefits; company covers 100% of the premium 
      • Employee accrued vacation pay, starting at 80 hours for 1st year and increasing to 120 hours on 2nd anniversary.
      • Sick hours accrued as per SF mandate.
      • 10 company holidays, including one floating holiday
